The Learning Assistance Center schedules tutoring appointments through a system called WCOnline. Once you have registered and logged in, you will be able to view a schedule of available appointment times and tutors.

Scheduling an Appointment

Click on the time slot you’d like to reserve and the “Create New Appointment” window will pop up. This window should look very familiar. There is, however, a bit of added information near the top:

Starting Your Virtual Session

When it’s time for your session, open the tutoring schedule and find your appointment. Click on your box to open the appointment window. Here is an example:

Click on the link “Start or Join Online Consultation.” This will open a new tab to begin the session!

Here is a walk-through of the online synchronous module from our friends at the Writing Center.

– All appointments will be EST so please be mindful of the times as you schedule and plan for your session.
– You will now be able to schedule appointments 2 days in advance (a change from 3 days) and cancel up to 20 hours in advance. Our policies on missed and same-day-cancellation appointments will still apply, but we will of course be flexible and gracious!
– All tutoring must take place online (even if you and your tutor are both on campus).

  • Instructions for WCOnline

    To register for an account:

    1. Go to our WCOnline page.
    2. If this is your first time on our system, click on the link “Click Here to Register.”
    3. You must register with your email address. You must fill out all fields marked with asterisks to continue.
    4. Once all fields on the form have been entered, click on “Register.” To view our schedule and make an appointment, return to the WCOnline main page and log in.

    To schedule an appointment:

    1. Go to WCOnline.
    2. After you login, you will see a view of the Peer Tutoring schedule. You can limit the schedule by clicking on the drop-down menu  “choose course” near the top of the schedule. You will be able to see the subject schedule for the next 14 days, but keep in mind that you must schedule an appointment at least 3 days in advance. The tutors available during a given time slot on each day will have white schedule blocks in the rows beside their names.
    3. Once you know the day, time, and tutor you would like, click on the appropriate white block of time. The “appointment request form” window will now appear.
    4. Please fill out all of the applicable fields.
    5. Important: Appointments are scheduled on the hour only and are set to default to 60 minute sessions.
    6. Click “Save Appointment” to make your appointment.
    7. Please note: you will receive an automated email reminder of your appointment and you may log back into WCOnline to change or cancel your appointment at any time up to 20 hours in advance. If you need to cancel an appointment later than that, please contact your tutor directly using their phone number listed on the appointment request form.

To check in to your appointment

When you start your appointment with a tutor, you will click on the red “x” on the top right of the schedule. This will check you in and verify that the appointment took place. The “x” will then be replaced with a green check mark. Make sure to check out at the end of the appointment by clicking the green check mark.

  • Responsibilities and Guidelines

How to best prepare for your tutoring session (and academic success)

    • Attend class regularly.
    • Come to each session with specific questions or goals in mind.
    • Be knowledgeable about the WFU Honor Code. Your tutor may assist you in your academic work, but they will not provide answers to specific questions about content.
    • You’re welcome to meet with different tutors within the discipline or you can try to schedule tutoring with the same tutor for each session (as the schedule allows).
    • Make an appointment with an academic counselor in the Learning Assistance Center.
    • Meet with your faculty member or TA. They are excellent resources for academic assistance.

    Peer Tutoring Program Policies

    • Students are limited to two sessions per week, per subject.
    • A student can make an appointment no less than 2 days in advance and up to 14 days in advance.
    • A student can cancel their appointment in the system 20 hours in advance.
    • If a student needs to cancel their appointment and cannot do so on the system, they will need to contact their tutor directly (through the tutor’s email address or phone number on the appointment request form).
    • Students must be on time to meet their tutor, in the meet-up location the student designated on their appointment request form.
    • If a student is more than 10 minutes late to your session, the tutor may cancel your appointment. A cancelled appointment will count against your account as a “no-show.”
    • If a student cancels their appointment the day of their session, it will count as a “now-show” as tutors have already prepared for the session.
    • If a student has 2 no-show appointments, their account will be disabled, and they will be unable to make future tutor appointments. Students with disabled accounts will need to contact the tutor coordinator.
    • In order to receive tutoring in chemistry, accounting, or physics you must go to at least three help session through the academic department before signing up for a tutoring appointment in these subjects.
  • Questions

If students have questions please contact Laura Denlinger, Tutor Coordinator, by email at
