The Learning Assistance Center offers tutoring services for students who wish to improve their knowledge of course content. Peer tutors are chosen based upon personal interviews, faculty recommendations, and grades. Tutoring at LAC is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), and all tutors must successfully complete training towards certification by the CRLA.
Students interested in becoming peer tutors should contact the Tutor Coordinator in LAC. All tutoring services are free of charge to Wake Forest students. Availability of tutors for specific subjects varies from one semester to the next. However, tutoring is available for most courses that fulfill Divisional Requirements.
In addition to one-on-one tutoring in most academic subjects, the Learning Assistance Center provides the opportunity for students to become involved in collaborative learning groups. Groups are formed in any subject area as needed and are comprised of 2-5 students. Availability of tutors for specific subjects varies from one semester to the next. In a typical semester, peer tutors offer academic assistance in beginning, intermediate, and advanced foreign language, math, and science courses.
